in Hindi), is located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated at the confluence of the Mula and Mutha rivers.
Called as the “Queen of the Deccan,” Pune is the cultural capital of Marathi people. According to the 2001 census
provisional results, it has a population of 4,485,000 in 2005. This figure includes the population of the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad,
which is the industrial twin of Pune. The combined population of the metropolitan region would be close to 5 million in 2005.
Marathi is the language of the majority of people residing here. The city has witnessed a sizeable investment in the software
